Method update: shift in analysis method for captan and folpet

On January 9th, we will change our method for the determination of folpet, while the determination of captan is being imported in our GMS multimethod. The current CL1B method for the quantification of captan and folpet in fruit and vegetables will disappear.

Captan

Following an update in the European legislation, the residue definition of captan has been changed. This commission regulation N°452/2016 has been published in the official journal of the European Union. At PRIMORIS we follow the changes in different legislations carefully to make sure our analytical results are in line with the current legislation.

According to the regulation above, the residue definition for captan has been changed to the “sum of captan and Tetrahydrophtalimide (THPI), expressed as captan”, whereas in the past captan has always had to be reported as an individual component.

This means that when you request an analysis on captan, we will automatically also determine the presence and level of THPI, as this is required by law. On the analytical report, we will put the sum of both captan and THPI, expressed as captan.

Folpet

The determination of folpet was also included in the CL1B multimethod. We have developed the new methof FOLP_01_A so we keep offering this analysis to our customers.
