MCPD analysis method officially ISO certified

Primoris offers accredited analysis for the simultaneous determination of 3-MCPD, 2-MCPD and glycidyl esters (GEs) in vegetable oils and fats.

We perform these analysis using our new accredited analysis method, which was developed in-house by our R&D department. Furthermore, this method recently received an official ISO certification with the following ISO code: ISO 18363-4:2021. In addition, we have worked in close cooperation with the ISO in order to obtain the official approval and ISO certification of this method. This ISO certification is an additional confirmation of the high reliability we want to accomplish for the analysis methods we offer our clients. 

Apart from this ISO certification, our MCPD analysis also offer the following advantages:

  • It is a very fast and budget-friendly analysis procedure
  • The method covers current legislation, as well as changes in EU legislation
  • Reliable advice before and after the analysis

What are MCPDs

3-MCPD, 2-MCPD and glycidyl esters (GE) are process contaminants, resulting from high temperature treatment and/or refinement of vegetable fats and oils. Highest levels of 3-MCPD and related compounds have been found in fats and oils, but can be present in other foodstuffs as well.

The presence and risks of 3-MCPD and related compounds has been monitored for quite some time by EFSA. Also, on European level, official legal limits have been set for, amongst others, fatty acid glycidyl esters in vegetable oils and fats (Regulation (EU) 2018/290).
